To celebrate National Puppy Day, we’re highlighting some puppies that are up for adoption in Metro Detroit.
Aster just turned one year old. He is the last puppy in his litter to find a forever home. The entire litter (and Mommo) were rescued from a drug house when the puppies were very small, just in time to save them from lives spent as fighting or bait dogs.
Aster is a very silly, very sweet boy who’s been trained to perfection by his foster mom. He’s a regular at the Home Fur-Ever kissing booth, because he’s so friendly that he loves to give everyone kisses. He is housebroken, knows all the basic commands (and a few tricks!) and gets along very well with all of the dogs in his foster home. He’s up to date on shots, is microchipped, and has been neutered. Aster is available through Home Fur-Ever Rescue.
Leia is six months old. She is a purebred Doberman Pinscher with a hard-to-find blue-grey coat. She is an active, goofy puppy and has the classic Doberman temperament: high-energy, stubborn, playful, and loving.
Leia is up-to-date on shots. She gets along well with children, although the rescue recommends families with older kids because of her energy level (she doesn’t quite know her own size yet, and may knock smaller children down). She’s already 60+ pounds, and still growing. The rescue is looking for an adopter who has experience with Doberman Pinschers for this lovely girl. Leia is available through Safe and Sound Rescue.
Dakota is four weeks old. He’s an American Staffordshire Terrier/Shar Pei mix. Dakota was dumped on the steps of a local police station, and has grown into a cuddly sweetheart.
Dakota will do best in a home without smaller breed dogs, but he’d do very well as an only pet or in a home with larger breed dogs. He’s up to date on shots and has been housetrained. His foster mom said he’s a very affectionate puppy, and very relaxed for his age. Dakota is available through Almost Home No-Kill Shelter and you can fill out an online application for him here.
